Medically Home Announces its First Group of Float Riders in the ’22 Rose Parade; Three Clinicians Transforming Patient Care, Enabling Health Systems to Bring Hospital-Level Care into Patients’ Homes. Dr. Pippa Shulman, and nurses, Grace Walker, and Sarah Paez, will ride in honor of Medically Home’s first patient and the thousands of patients that can now safely receive hospital-level care in their homes.

BOSTON – [December 13, 2021] – Medically Home, a technology-enabled services company, is honoring the spirit of perseverance to overcome obstacles with its float entry in the 133rd Tournament of Roses Parade! Today, Medically Home announced its first group of float riders, three clinicians who are leaders in the movement enabling health systems to safely and reliably bring hospital-level care into patients’ homes.

Riding in honor of Medically Home’s first patient, Chuck, and the thousands of patients that can now safely be treated in their homes are Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Pippa Shulman, DO MPH; Director of Patient Safety, Quality, & Clinical Compliance, Grace F. Walker MSHA BSN RN; and Senior Director of Nursing Sarah Paez, MS, GNP-BC, from Medically Home. Each will carry Chuck’s favorite candy, wintergreen Lifesavers with them, representing patients.

Pippa Shulman, DO, MPH, with Medically Home from its beginnings, has led the clinical design and implementation of the Medically Home model, which enables health systems to bring hospital-level care into patients’ homes. Shulman said, “What a wonderful way to celebrate patients and the achievements of our health system partners. Thousands of patients have been treated using this model; their experience shows and research confirms the advantages of receiving hospital care at home, in the environment where patients are most familiar and the most comfortable, and with family members — is the ideal. As clinicians, it is our privilege to drive this movement on behalf of patients.” Walker said, “All clinicians who have worked at the patient bedside know that patients want to be home. A patient’s home is where they grow and thrive, experiencing all changes of life, including their greatest joys. To help patients recover from an illness or manage a chronic condition in the supportive environment of their home is innovative, and at the same time, feels like a return to something inherently right.” Paez said, “Patients are at the heart of our model, working together with their clinical teams to determine their care plan – Clinicians are guests in their homes, caring for patients where patients want to be.”
